Drill and blast excavation of nearly 130,000CY of tunnels and caverns totaling 4000’ of drive at the Barrick Cortez Hills Underground Mine to allow construction of underground batch plants, ore bins and conveyors. The largest caverns were 40’ wide by 92’ tall. In addition to the rock bolt and shotcrete ground support, 6000 ea 8’ to 10’ long anchor bolts were installed to secure the permanent infrastructure.
