Drill Tech’s contract consisted of constructing four soil nail walls. The walls consisted of 136,000 LF of soil nails and 73,000 SF of structural shotcrete. Drill Tech provided Caltrans with a Value Engineering Cost Proposal (VECP) for a sculpted and stained shotcrete finish in lieu of the original Cast-InPlace finish. DTDS was successful, and constructed the sculpted and stained shotcrete finish which saved both time and money on the entire project.
