Dewatering is the temporary lowering of the ground water table for the purpose of new construction and below grade excavation. To facilitate dewatering, vertical holes are drilled to depths extending below the target water table level. A perforated PVC well pipe and pea gravel fill is placed inside the drilled hole to create a well. A pump is then placed in the bottom of the well to extract the ground water from the surrounding soil. The extracted water is collected, treated as required, and discharged.
